Lighthouse Park Engagement Photoshoot: Marina and Ben

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friends Marina and Ben for their engagement!

I got to see their love develop from the early stages. It’s so beautiful how much they’ve grown together, the support and unconditional love, and now, the life they plan to build together. When they reached out to me to photograph their wedding and engagement I was so honoured to be the one to capture their love and create images they can cherish forever. Despite all the planning you do, you could never predict the weather. And although the day started out with rain it cleared up to the most beautiful of skies.

Marina is an incredible artist and painter and Ben is a musician. Whenever I see them together they are always so goofy and sweet with each other. Ben and Marina love going on hikes, camping, and adventuring. They spent the majority of the summer in Powell River on the Sunshine Coast working on boat together and enjoying the sun and the beach.

We wanted to really capture their adventurous and outdoorsy sprit in these photographs so we decided on the beautiful Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver! We picked out outfits together and decided on earthy, tones that would match the rocky, forest landscape of BC. We packed some snacks and headed out to Lighthouse Park for sunset. Driving there we got a little nervous as it was starting to rain, but just in time the skies began to clear up to a warm sun!

We had such a fun time dancing around, climbing up rocks, hopping over puddles and singing to some tunes. I couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect moment to photograph their love. The sun began to set to the most beautiful pinks and reds as we watched it go over the horizon together.

I think that’s the perfect scenario; It’s not just about the photos, but creating an experience and memories they can look back on in photographs to remember how it FELT. I put together a little slideshow to share some of that day.
